Your IP Number

Unfortunately, your IP number, or Internet Protocol number, is necessary to interact with many websites when you are connected to the Internet. It can also be used to pinpoint your location. If you are using a small, local Internet Service Provider, and someone gets your IP number and looks it up at whois, they will be able to see what town you’re in. That is why you either need to hide your IP number, which will not be easy, use a national ISP, or use an ISP in a different area than you are in.
